A dramatic comedy that takes place on a moonlit night in August, 1926. Jacob Mercer returns from Toronto to the Newfoundland fishing village of his birth, hoping to win back his former sweetheart, Mary Snow. However, Mary is now engaged to Jerome McKenzie. Still confused and hurt by Jacob’s departure a year ago, she will not be easily wooed.

Warning:  Fog Machine will be used in this production.

Cast & Director

Director: Robin Bennett

Robin is thrilled to be directing Salt-Water Moon with ETC. He recently appeared as Slim in Of Mice And Men, Friar Laurence in Romeo and Juliet; and in The Importance of Being Earnest as Dr. Chasuble. Directing credits include, The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh, Albertine in Five Times by Michel Tremblay (Best Director, WODL 2017), and An Inspector Calls.

Mary Snow - Emily Beattie

Emily Beattie is an actress based out of Guelph, Ontario. After starting out in theatre, Emily went on to study Acting for Media at George Brown College. She starred in her first film, Altar Boy, in August of 2019. This is Emily’s first performance with the Elmira Theatre Company, she is very excited to be returning to the stage in Salt-Water Moon.

Jacob Mercer - Quaid Lale

Quaid Lale has been involved with theatre for most of his life. His roles have run the gamut from comedy to musical theatre to drama. Selected roles include Greg in I’ll Be Back Before Midnight with GLT, Lucientio in Taming of the Shrew with ECT, Patchy The Pirate in Spongebob SquarePants the Musical with RCMPI, Billy in The Goat or who is Sylvia with The Downtown Theatre Project, Conrad in Ordinary People with GLT, and Prince Herbert in Spamalot! with RCMPI. He is thrilled to be working in this space with these folks!
